Dunno who the fu*k is reading this Blog but since I somehow started in English then lets continue in the same language ]So, I have been stuck with my RF100MM F2.8 L MACRO IS USM for some time now. Not long time, like two months or so. [ more about this lens in the future ] But not anymore. My macro lens has a new friend now -> RF 24-70MM F/2.8L IS USM
At first I thought that under 100mm I’ll stick with prime lenses. You know, get these new Canon VCM lenses - 50mm, 35mm, 20mm. Their F1.4 is verrrrry appealing but from the other hand do I want to pay for that narrow depth of field? Taking out one lens and being stuck with its length is not a huge problem in my mind, at least it makes you think and move your legs. In that sense primes would be okay for me. But then again, do you want to pay for the reach that covers same range as 24-70mm zoom? This is the place where I decided to be reasonable and stick with zoom. Aaaand RF 28-70MM F2L USM was also an option - almost same range but more light! Well .. it also has no stabilisation and is like a 1000 EUR more money. So, fu*k NO it was to that lense.
Ordered it on Wednesday. Order of course failed miserably. [ Overall web shop is basically from 90’s and all my orders have so far failed after payment in bank is completed - you lose your money but order is still somewhere in limbo state … and stays like that FOREVER ]. After some support emails, some confusing phone calls, delivery to wrong place … I got it on Friday morning.
First impressions:
When I first got it out of the box I was like “Omg that fucker is HEAVY!” Does not look heavy but boy you can feel it in your hands.
Mounted it to my R5m2 and next impression was “Mmmkay, this autofocus is a LOT faster than the one in the 100mm Macro lens!"
Other impressions are coming somewhere in the future .. so far enjoy some random boat picture
