How it started …
I guess the question is WHAT started. I have no idea. Here we go .. done .. nothing else to say .. lets finish this blog post 🤷♂️
Okay, probably not done-done with this post.
Some years ago. Actually many years ago, when I was a kid you know :), I had some camera. Canon something mirror thingy. AND I had 70 - 200mm F4 L. Yes! An L-series lens! But camera was a shitbox and the lens was slow so nothing good came out from that 😁 After thousands of very well “un-composed”, wonky and crappy pictures I sold the lens. But camera probably still is somewhere .. dunno where 🙄
Actually. I just remembered that already in my school ( primary school times ) I had photography lessons or something. Guess what time it was. It was in the 1980’s and 1990’s. Yep, I’m old as fart. Anyways, camera was some russian Зени́т … or two of them .. or three. And you had the films and needed to develop all these images etc. All the mishaps in the darkroom. All the negative slides. Good old times.
I guess from that time I have had some photography itch in me and it has been itching from time to time.
Anyways, back to the first Canon and L-lens that I had. Basically. Young, stupid and no money = no photography 🤯
Fast-forward ten, fifteen or so years and you have new me. The itch is still itching! So I took some online courses about photography theory. Just for fun. To see if something catches on. It did. Itch got bigger.
It took few more years for things to start moving. Actually things started to move in a wrong direction and I ended up with bag full of random photography gear - tripod, some chargers, card readers, diffusers, gray cards etc. The correct direction would have been to buy a new gravel bicycle. You know. I kind of had budget for that bike but this budget suddenly did bellyflop and turned into new Canon RF 100mm F2.8 Macro lens. Aaaand then it flopped even more and turned into new Canon R5 Mark 2 😁
If you ask me if I did the right thing then YES. I’m so glad that I do not have more bikes and I have something that I can use to relieve my itch for photography. Hopefully. It has been working out great so far. Almost 2 months to be exact 😁
And the name. Scriimsilm. This also started long time ago. When I played Eve Online ( the spaceship massive online thingy thingy ) I had one of my characters named as Scriimsilm. That’s kind of it … from the name side.
Yeah, that’s how it sarted. What it turns into, we’ll see.
